Fred Kolb Wagner
May 24, 1946 - August 23, 2011
Fred Kolb Wagner, 65, Major, USAF, Retired, went to be with Christ Jesus on August 23, 2011. He was born on May 24, 1946, in Orange, Texas to Edward M. and Lula Clyde Wagner.
Fred graduated from Pensacola High School in 1964, Pensacola Junior College in 1966, and the University of West Florida in 1968, where he was a charter class member and received a B.S. in Management. He received a Master’s Degree in Business Management from Troy State University. In his junior year of college, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he met the love of his life Kay Diane Moore. In 1969, Fred entered the Air Force. In 1970, he and Diane married and later had two daughters, Christie and Allison.
During his military career, he went from Airman Basic to Technical Sergeant then Second Lieutenant to Major. He was twice awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and three times awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal. After retirement in 1990, he was self employed in sales.
Fred was a deacon, choir member, and Sunday School Director at First Baptist Church, Ft. Walton Beach.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Kay Diane Wagner; his daughters, Christie Schnabel and Allison Neumueller of Houston, TX; his son-in-laws, Brian Schnabel and Scott Neumueller; four precious grandsons, Braiden and Cason Schnabel, and Jonathan and Isaac Neumueller. He is also survived by his brothers, Ed Wagner and Sarah of Zachary, LA, and Jim Wagner of Lilburn, GA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lula Clyde Wagner of Pensacola, FL, and his father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Katherine Moore of Seminary, MS.
A time of visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Ft. Walton Beach on Saturday, August 27 at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL at 10:15 a.m.
Floral arrangements will be accepted at the church or contributions may be sent in Fred’s memory to First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach, FL.
