Life Legacy
Thomas G. Watkins Jr., Colonel, USAF (retired) died peacefully on December 19, 2011 at age 95. He was preceded in death by Rosemary, his loving wife of 69 years. Tom was born in Pendleton, S.C., November 25, 1916. He graduated from Clemson College and in 1941 entered the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 1944, Tom graduated from pilot training and retired from the Air Force in 1970. Tom and Rosemary moved to Fort Walton Beach that same year and became successful in the real estate business. They were involved in a variety of community organizations over the years and will be remembered fondly by many dear friends.
Tom is survived by his brother Miles H. Watkins, his sister Pauline Purcell, his son Thomas G. Watkins, III (Leslie), his daughter Mary B. Viani, his grandchildren Rebecca Viani, Alex Viani, Zachary Drathman, Lindsey Watkins and Thomas G. Watkins IV.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 21st at 11:00 AM at Shalimar United Methodist Church.
